Early wickets putting pressure on Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians won the toss and choose to bat. Mumbai Indians got off to a worse start losing the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the 2nd over. Pandya came to bat at number 3. Simmons and Pandya put on 21 runs for the second wickets before Pandya and Simmons were dismissed in successive balls. Buttler and Pollard were too dismissed cheaply. Chasing a target of 122, the Rising Pune Super Giants openers Rahane and Du Plessis started off cautiously scoring 19 off 3 overs. Rahane and Du Plessis attacked the Mumbai Indians bowlers. Rahane and Du Plessis made sure that Super Giants got a good start. In the first six over’s Super Giants scored 57 runs. Both of them put on 78 runs which put them on track for reaching the target. Du Plessis was the first wicket to fall 34.

Rahane who opened the batting for Super Giants team played a match winning knock. From the start he was timing the ball. He looked in great form and played excellent cricketing shots. It was an amazing performance by Rahane who smashed the Mumbai Indians bowlers to all parts. He scored 66 off 42 balls and was named the man of the match. In his knock, he smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes which helped Rising Super Giants to register a comfortable win over defending champions. He also hit the winning runs which was a massive six.

Kevin Pietersen also looking in good touch

After the wicket of Du Plessis, Kevin Pietersen looked in brilliant touch. He took singles and smashed the spinners for sixes. He hit sixes off Harbhajan Singh and Sheryas Gopal. Out of the England team, he reminded the England selectors not to select in the squad. Pietersen remained not out on 21 off 14 balls. Along with Rahane, he completed a thumping win over Mumbai Indians with 32 balls to spare.
