WWE News: Goldberg to promote WWE 2K17 at Summerslam, his return update

  • WWE Universe has not witnessed Bill Goldberg since he departed from the company, the night after Wrestlemania 20. It has been 12 long years since the night when Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the referee. It match eventually marked final for both Brock Lesnar and Goldberg’s departure, back then.
Brock Lesnar, however, returned to WWE in the year 2011 but we have yet to see the former WCW franchise. Since the day the trailer of the video game 2K17 featuring Goldberg was released, the pro-wrestling fraternity stirred a bit with the possibility of a blockbuster return.
Stirring them further was Brock Lesnar’s latest tweet directing towards Goldberg which shows the beast challenging Goldberg. The same tweet was deleted from WWE’s official Twitter handle moments after it was uploaded.

According to Forbes, WWE is still trying to finalize the Goldberg-Brock Lesnar confrontation to happen. Though, it’s just a rumor at this moment.
According to wrestlingnews.co, Bill Goldberg will be present at the Summerslam weekend to promote the WWE 2K17 video game. However, there’s no connection with WWE since he will be appearing purely on 2K’s invitation basis. His schedule suggests that he will leave before the Summerslam main show kicks off.

WWE Universe expected him to be seen in a WWE ring due to the promotion of the 2K17 video game. We have seen returns from The Ultimate Warrior, Sting in the past couple of years for the same reason.
Goldberg himself wants to return for one last big match in WWE. While the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion is not quite on the same page in the WWE, he did agree to work with marketing team for the promotions of the upcoming video game that will release on October 25th. Reports also suggest that if contacted properly, he would sit with the creative team to address the situation and thereby sketch the blueprint of one big match.
