Footage from last week was shown where Seth Rollins forced John Cena to reinstate The Authority. What should have been a celebration for Edge, Christian and the WWE Universe turned into a nightmare of the highest order. Seth Rollins seized the ultimate opportunity on “The Cutting Edge Peep Show” and exploited the neck injury that ended Edge’s career to force John Cena to do the unthinkable. With the assistance of Big Show and J&J Security, Rollins incapacitated Christian and threatened to administer a potentially life-endangering Curb Stomp to Edge unless Cena caved in and reinstated The Authority. Having no choice, Cena made the sacrifice for his former rival and agreed to bring Triple H & Stephanie McMahon back to power. The couple made their return then and there, watching with glee after Rollins gave Cena the beating he’d intended for Edge and raising a glass to 2015 in WWE. It was a development, it must be said, that sat quite well with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman, who celebrated Cena’s destruction alongside The Authority atop the ramp.
The Authority addressed the WWE roster
The show started as John Cena was seen inside the ring with the entire WWE roster. Cena reminded that the authority was back in power. Cena said that authority’s first order of business was to gather the entire WWE roster into the ring so they could address them face to face.
But Cena wanted to apologize before they address the roster. He wanted to apologize to the fans and his co workers for brining the authority back. He was no other choice, when Seth Rollins said that he would snap Edge’s neck Cena thought maybe he was bluffing, he thought he could save Edge like Superman then he thought maybe he could not.
Then he realized the well beings of Edge so he had to bring the authority back. He said that 2015 was going to be a very tough year and he wanted to make a promise to his co workers and the fans.
Before Cena could finish his words Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out to the arena. They stood on the entrance stage and Stephanie McMahon spoke out first as she said she had said anything yet when the fans booed them. She welcomed the fans to the first Raw of 2015.
Stephanie wished everyone to have a good year, she said that her husband and she was going to have a great year and she promised to deliver what best for the fans was and what best for the business was.
Triple H reminded that the fans were cheering and laughing two months ago because they thought the authority was gone for good all because of Sting. Triple H reminded that they would be for them to come back. He said that they were not going to admit it but they were actually doing it.
Triple H said that thing s were turning like a sinking ship but things were normal again, WWE was back in power because of one man, the man single handedly brought the authority back in power, he was the undisputed future of the WWE, and that man was the Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins.
Seth Rollins came out to the arena. Seth first said Hello to John Cena and addressed him as his good friend and he said to be the first one to wish him Happy New Year. Triple H said that the WWE Universe owed him a debt that they could never repay, even the authority owed him a debt.
Triple H said that they would give him an opportunity to make history. At Royal Rumble John Cena would face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight championship, Triple H made this a triple threat match, as it now stood, Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena vs. Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight championship at Royal Rumble.
Stephanie McMahon said that there was another man they had to thank, and that was John Cena himself. She said that last week he showed his true integrity, he made a decision to break his promise, not only to himself, not only to the entire WWE roster, but to the entire WWE universe, and when he did he showed them something, deep down under his heart he knew what best for business was. So tonight they were not going to punish him but honor him, they wanted to show just how truly proud they were by declaring it as the John Cena appreciation night where his attendance was not optional it was mandatory, she promised that the authority would deliver.
Triple H said to rest of the roster that it would be a new era for the authority where there would be no agendas, neither there would be any motives, it would be a new authority where everyone would get what they deserved, and as for that night, things would start with the WWE IC champion Dolph Ziggler who had to perform next and he had to defend his WWE IC championship against a man who never really lost it, Bad News Barrett. Barrett who was standing inside the ring looked at Ziggler, the IC champion, and their match would be next.
So Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are back, and they wasted no time in kicking off 2015 much in the way they kicked off 2014: with proclamations and machinations designed to put their enemies in their places. Assembling the entire WWE roster in the middle of the ring, The Authority — after some perfunctory face-rubbing for John Cena, who was forced to reinstate them — set about rewarding facilitator Seth Rollins with a third spot in the WWE World Heavyweight Title Match between Cena and Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble. They also declared the night “John Cena Appreciation Night” as payment for the Cenation leader’s contributions … and placed Dolph Ziggler into an Intercontinental Title Match against Bad News Barrett.
Match 1 – WWE Intercontinental championship – Bad News Barrett def. Dolph Ziggler to become the new Intercontinental Champion
If The Authority’s back, that can only mean one thing: Dolph Ziggler is not long for this world as Intercontinental Champion. The corporate cabal picked up right where it left off before Survivor Series vis a vis The Showoff and his title, immediately putting him into a defense against Bad News Barrett, who technically never lost the championship in the first place. A fair enough ruling, though when Ziggler escaped the impromptu bout by reversing the Winds of Change into a pin, Barrett’s lengthy post-match pasting left The Showoff in tatters and Kane — re-installed as Director of Operations — turned the match into a 2-out-of-3-Falls contest on the spot.
The fix was in from that point on. Barrett took Fall No. 2 with the Wasteland, and even though Ziggler overcame a battered shoulder and rallied to bring the Englishman to the edge, it wasn’t enough to get the job done. After a superkick took Barrett off his feet, Ziggler took his eye off Barrett to drive an interfering Kane back and the Brit roared into action, lighting Ziggler up with the Bull Hammer to claim his fifth Intercontinental Title.
Match 2 – The Ascension def. Local athletes
Call The Ascension a throwback, just don’t call them the new Road Warriors. Or the new Demolition, for that matter. Konnor & Viktor’s path of destruction extended into their second week on the main roster, as the former NXT Tag Team Champions laid waste to their second set of local athletes after denouncing any comparison to the powerhouse tag teams of WWE’s yesteryears. The poor guys didn’t even stand a chance, and The Ascension obliterated them with the Fall of Man in a matter of minutes. What a … well, you know.
Match 3 – Roman Reigns def. Big Show via Disqualification
Having traded trips over the announce desk last week, one would expect the third Roman Reigns–Big Show battle in two weeks to contain some combination of airborne bodies and unmitigated destruction. The rubber match was, however, light on gratuitous chaos and heavy on the bone-rattling power maneuvers that have come to define both Superstars. While Reigns promised to use his speed to his advantage, the giant took the wind out of his sails with a spear early on and The Big Dog played catch-up for a solid 10 minutes until Big Show decided to end Reigns’ night with a blast to the face from the steel steps. Even though the ref threw the match out, Reigns still managed to get the last laugh by spearing Show in the ring with the stairs above his head, taking the giant out and adding insult to injury when the steps crashed down on him.
