After John Cena revealed his shocking injury which is due to take six to nine months from him, WWE has announced Roman Reigns as his replacement in the upcoming live event set to take place next week in India. The long-time franchise is to be replaced by the current WWE world Heavyweight champion Roman Reigns.

Reigns, who wasn’t announced to be a part of the initially announced WWE crew to the India tour, makes a fitting replacement for the injured Cena as he would be carrying a huge wave of momentum with him, since becoming champion and given a huge fan base of him as the face of the company as of right now in Cena’s absence.

As noted earlier, John Cena announced on Twitter last evening that he is set to undergo shoulder surgery today in Birmingham, Alabama. As per reports,h e is suffering from a torn rotator cuff and is most likely to miss this year’s Wrestlemania as this type of injury takes, at least, six months to get healed.

While it was not confirmed in any way, the reports were for him to face The Undertaker at this year’s Mania or even in a Passing the Torch match with Roman Reigns in the main event. This would be the first Wrestlemania without Cena wrestling on the show since he made his Wrestlemania debut back in 2004.

His last match came on December 30th at a WWE live event against United States Champion Alberto Del Rio. He did not appear on RAW this week but did appear on SmackDown, though he did not wrestle on the show.
