WWE News: Alexa Bliss Becomes The Longest Reigning Raw Women’s Champion

When we talk about the current women’s division present in the WWE, Charlotte Flair is the one name that comes first on everyone’s mind. She is the face of the ongoing women’s evolution in the WWE from the very beginning in 2015. She was the Divas Champion when the progress began under the name of Divas Revolution. No matchup to her level was found until Alexa Bliss came to the main roster, last year.

It was during the first-ever WWE brand extension draft when the ‘five-feet of fury’ was called upon to join the Smackdown Live brand. She had no such accomplishments as an NXT women’s superstar, prior to that and the expectations were less from her. But, kudos to Little Miss Bliss that she was able to establish herself as the dominant heel of the division which was converted into one of the greatest champions, going forward.

WWE officials made her one of the cornerstones of the women’s division by letting her become the first-ever champion to hold the Raw and Smackdown women’s championships. Overall, she is a 4-time women’s champion who now has achieved an incredible feat.

Alexa Bliss is the longest reigning WWE Raw women’s champion in the history since two separate titles were introduced on both Raw and Smackdown. The previous record was held by none other than Charlotte who held the title for 11 days.

Bliss was on the verge of breaking that accolade during her first run with the title after her win at WWE Payback PPV. She had 112-day reign with it before losing it to Sasha Banks at Summerslam. But, she regained it just eight days later on WWE Raw to continue a dominant run and earn the accolade.

With Bayley and Sasha Banks not considered as the favourites of the WWE creative team, the current champion acted as the face of the WWE Raw women’s division for the better part of 2017. With the great in-ring presence and skills with the mic, she is expected to do the same in years to come.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Times Of India, the Wicked Witch of the WWE stated that she is still trying to elevate her level in the WWE,

“On live events, it is always the place to try things. You know it’s all trial and error. Wrestling is always about crowd interaction, how you feel, how to make the audience react and every day is a learning process. Because something that works with one fan base may not work with the other one and so I try to use a lot of time in live-event to try different things, see what works and what doesn’t and it is always a learning process, you never know everything.”
