WWE News: Big Match Booked for Brock Lesnar Prior to Royal Rumble

With the New Year kicking off, the schedule might get busier for Brock Lesnar. He had already made an extra appearance in December while appearing on WWE Raw at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island where WWE confirmed that he would defend his Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble PPV against Kane and Braun Strowman at the same time. It is going to be a triple threat match under No Disqualification rules.

But, even before that night, the beast incarnate will have to defend his championship against an exciting name. It will be a singles contest to take place at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. On the main event of the night, Brock Lesnar will lock horns against Kane in a Universal Championship match. According to the reports of wrestlingINC.com,

“WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar has been added to the RAW live event on Saturday, January 27th at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD. Lesnar will be defending his title against Kane. The following night, Lesnar will defend his title against Kane and Braun Strowman in a triple threat match at The Royal Rumble pay-per-view.”

The original main event of the evening was very different, as per the earlier announcement. The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose) was scheduled to face the team of Samoa Joe, Sheamus, and Cesaro. However, WWE has to change multiple event matches following the triceps injury suffered by Dean Ambrose who would be out of action up to nine months.

This match was also announced in an impromptu way that will surely drag audience to the show. It is to be noted that Kane and Brock Lesnar has never been part of a one-on-one match in their pro-wrestling career. They have been part of the WWE for a long time but never had the opportunity to wrestle each other.

The reigning champion is expected to defend the title, successfully considering that no title change happens in these kinds of untelevised house shows. Also, the title match is set for the Royal Rumble PPV, the very next night in Philadelphia which hints there’s no way the beast incarnate will suffer a loss to the Big Red Machine.
