WWE News: Conflict Between WWE And John Cena Over The Latter’s Return Date
Dec 9, 2016 at 12:08 PM
Prior to the Survivor Series PPV, John Cena posted tweets saying he is terribly missing the WWE universe and can’t wait to get back into the squared circle. This is for the second consecutive year he missed one of the biggest PPV of the season. Last year too, he had gone to film the second season of the American Grit television show on the Fox Network. He’s been on a hiatus due to the same reason from mid-October onwards.
Smackdown Live has been missing the franchise player ever since. Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles have been booked on the main event spot but this rivalry has been stretched enough and hopefully we won’t see more matches between the two anytime soon. Since there is a lack of depth on the Smackdown roster, the creative has no choice but to call up The Undertaker to fill up the spot. Taker is supposed to be included in the championship scenario soon.
This has not been taken well by John Cena since more dates have been booked for the Deadman in the future. Also, Undertaker’s inclusion opens up a lot of options for the blue brand. Hence, Cena’s return might get postponed as well. Cena, as of now, is scheduled to return in the last week of December. But we might see him on the television in 2017.
A report from Inquisitr.com illustrated the situation by saying, “According to a new report (from Pro Wrestling Unlimited), there is a belief that John Cena could be at odds with WWE officials, right now, due in part to the WWE returns of Bill Goldberg and The Undertaker in his absence. It’s being said that The Undertaker’s early return to WWE television and increased schedule over the next few months was a result of Cena’s return date possibly being pushed back due to something happening between Cena and WWE.”
Cena was not also aware of the fact that Goldberg will be booked for more dates en route to the Wrestlemania. This has indeed opened some more options for Undertaker’s opponent at Wrestlemania. Cena is his expected opponent for the 33rd edition and he seems disappointed with the fact he might get replaced by Goldberg or even Randy Orton.
