It was expected that the process of crowning a new number one contender for the Universal championship will start from now on. The reigning champion, Brock Lesnar will return to Raw, next month to build up the hype for his first title defence. But, before that, we will get to know about his challenger.

Initially, Braun Strowman was the one to face Lesnar upon return. But, WWE has to come up with a brand new plan after the news of Strowman’s injury was confirmed. The mountain among men is supposed to sideline for about six months.

As per the new announcement, there will be a fatal-5-way match at the next Raw-exclusive match, Extreme Rules. The winner of the contest will be declared as the new number one contender for the Universal championship. Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe will fight for the spot.

The victorious one will get a shot at the Universal championship at the next PPV from the flagship brand in the month of July. It will be the inaugural PPV, Great Balls of Fire on July 9th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas where the beast incarnate will return into action.

The women’s championship match was also confirmed between Alexa Bliss and Bayley. After Bliss attacked Bayley with a Kendo Stick, Kurt Angle announced a ‘Kendo Stick on a pole’ match for Extreme Rules.

The third match announced between Neville and Austin Aries for the Cruiserweight championship. The fourth one was declared for the tag team championship between The Hardy Boyz and Sheamus-Cesaro.

The final one to be confirmed was a rematch between Dean Ambrose and The Miz for the Intercontinental championship.

Check out the so far confirmed match card for the Extreme Rules which will be held on June 4th at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland:
