WWE News: Jinder Mahal Possibly Reveals His Summerslam Opponent

Jinder Mahal had won the WWE championship back at the Backlash PPV in the month of May. He was the 50th man to hold the most prestigious belt in all of the sports entertainment. The company put the title on his shoulders in order to establish a bonafide representative from India. This was also a cunning move to grab the Indian market, big time.

This is the reason why he is having a long title run and is not intended to leave it, anytime soon. Keeping him as the champion for more days would surely attract more of the Indian audience. Till date, the creative team has been able to hand him a dominant title reign. He was pitted against the WWE’s Apex Predator for a long time and emerged victorious at the end.

He has managed to escape the Punjabi Prison and beating his opponent in three consecutive PPVs. This has also marked the end of the feud which is ongoing since the month of April. The Summerslam PPV is upcoming and we expect him to get an even bigger opponent considering this is the second biggest event of the year.

The champion had recently talked to USA Today’s ‘Title For Win’ section to note about the Punjabi Prison match. He also spilled the bean for the upcoming Summerslam PPV and his opponent on the show. The interviewer asked about the possible scenario for him when it comes to the biggest party of the summer.

In reply, Jinder Mahal went on to say that he would like to face none other than John Cena on August 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This just shows the amount of confidence that Jinder has been able to get during his title reign. Here is the exact comment:

‘He is this generation’s greatest, I am the future, I don’t think I’ve hit my prime, I need to establish myself. Beating someone of the calibre of John Cena at an event like SummerSlam would be awesome.’

According to the other sources, WWE Creative does intend to plan the exact same match at Summerslam in order to look Jinder even stronger. Furthermore, he is expected to come out as the victorious one after the match since WWE intends to make an India tour within his championship reign. So, it’s quite evident that the push for Jinder is not going to end, anytime soon.
