Last week, it was reported that Stephanie McMahon and John Cena were present at the Cannes Lions international festival to promote the WWE brand and to talk how WWE keeps entertaining the audience throughout the world. Cena and Stephanie later participated in a Q&A session where they answered a few questions from the media which obviously included the upcoming brand split. They elaborately told that both Raw and Smackdown will be treated as different entities once the brand split takes place.
John Cena revisited his memory of the old days and said the brand split in the year 2002 gave him his own identity on Smackdown. He debuted in the same year in the WWE. He believes that each show has its own talents and to focus on them fully, the brand split is an inevitable thing. They will be received much more TV times and have the chance to cement their own character. He also ensured that the storylines will not continue to one show from another once Smackdown gets separated thus making it a completely unique show.
Stephanie re-insisted the same by telling that since Raw had got even bigger since it has extended for three hours of live television programming, they encountered a huge problem to drag the storylines even on Smackdown. This has been a consistent problem and Smackdown was overloaded with some repetitive kind of things. Now, when the brand split will finally happen, they will have the opportunity to focus on particular storylines and show it elaborately on-screen. This in-turn will help the audience to connect with the superstars more.
Furthermore, Stephanie gave a hint that WWE will have some sort of partnership with Samsung to connect to the audience through virtual reality. It sure is, WWE is changing big time and for good.
As we all know the much-anticipated brand split will take place via the exciting WWE Draft on July 19th on WWE Smackdown, the day it is starting airing live on the USA Network on every Tuesday. The countdown begins as the WWE Draft will determine which superstar and championship are going to stay on which brand as we look to unfold more in the upcoming weeks.
