WWE News: Major Update Regarding Roman Reigns Defending US Championship On Raw
Jan 9, 2017 at 5:01 PM
Roman Reigns defending his United States championship on Monday Night Raw has been a familiar scene from the past few weeks. Starting from December last year, he has defended it for quite a few times against either Chris Jericho or Kevin Owens. Despite all the dirty tricks pulled off by both of them, Reigns has been able to retain the title. But, as reported earlier, tonight he will be having a bigger task in hand.
On the main event of tonight’s Raw, Roman Reigns has to defend his US title again. This time it will be a triple threat match against Owens and Jericho. Quite assumingly, Stephanie McMahon has come up with this idea because Foley is not expected to make such unfair decisions.
Although this is a triple threat match where everyone will compete for himself, we know this is going to be a two-on-one handicap match, literally. Jeri-KO will work together ensuring that Reigns finally drop the United States title.
Now, a report from cagesideseats.com suggested that WWE has no intentions whatsoever to let Reigns drop the US title, tonight. They are firmly pitching the idea of making the Big Dog a dual champion at the Royal Rumble PPV and tonight’s match will be another acid test for him to gain more sympathy from the crowd.
Furthermore, tonight the match will plant the seeds for the upcoming Jericho-Owens rivalry. Anyone of them will cost the other the championship to start the much-anticipated rivalry. The match is a must to happen before Jericho leaves for outside commitment. The rumor mill has even said that this match will feature on the Wrestlemania card, as well.
Ever since Conor McGregor has become a dual champion at UFC, WWE is also determined to make the Samoan superstar a dual champion at some point. It’s clear that despite all the fan backlashes from the WWE Universe, Vince McMahon is willing to push Reigns once again ahead of the Wrestlemania season.
