WWE News: Matt Hardy Teases To Go After The Intercontinental Championship
Jul 5, 2017 at 3:14 PM
Matt Hardy returned to the WWE with his brother Jeff Hardy at the grandest stage of them all, Wrestlemania. The return is still being considered as one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the pro-wrestling industry. They became the new Raw Tag Team Champions on that night in their favourite ladder match, defeating three other prime teams from the flagship show of the WWE.
In case you don’t know, they are the only team in all of the pro-wrestling entertainment to hold the tag titles in three different decades. This is one viable reason why they call themselves the greatest tag team champions of all-time in all of the Universe.
In combined, they are seven-time tag champs in the WWE history. Previously they won the world tag team title on six different occasions while making the comeback they added the Raw tag titles in their cabinet. In addition, they have been the tag team champions in TNA Impact Wrestling Promotion and the ROH promotion, as well.
Now, they have lost their championship belts at the bygone Extreme Rules PPV to Sheamus and Cesaro. It was earlier reported that it was done since the creative wants them to be singles competitors on the Raw roster at a certain point.

Giving a similar hint, Matt Hardy recently posted a picture of his championship collections. He pointed out that although he has won major championships all around, there are plenty more to come in near future.
In particular, he expressed his desire to go after the Intercontinental Championship. It was a jab taken to the present Intercontinental Champion, The Miz after he posted an update regarding the same. A mini Twitter war broke out between the two of them hinting a potential rivalry.
Congrats man. Sucks you’ll never get the IC Title because you can’t delete #TheMizICTitleComebackTour great collection though. https://t.co/3QG4c3416I

It is true that in his illustrious career, Matt Hardy has never been able to hold the prestigious title. Since WWE wants him to feature in the mid-card picture, it is quite evident that they will crown him with the IC title, at some point. Plus, the feud between the A-lister and The Obsolete One will also be something interesting to witness.
