Prior to the mega match at Summerslam, reports already suggested that John Cena will end up losing the dream match against AJ Styles. The reason behind this is for filming the season of the American Grit on the Fox Network. He will not be seen on the main shows of Smackdown. However, he will make appearances for some houses shows and the dark segments that take place after Raw and Smackdown goes off the air.
According to the reports of, the John Cena will make his comeback at October’s end once he is done filming the second season of American Grit. Then he will go on to seek straight redemption against AJ Styles. Their rivalry is still not done and hence we see Styles carrying Cena’s armband which he did leave after his match at the middle of the ring.
AJ Styles is currently having a strong momentum after becoming the number one contender for the WWE World Title. He will challenge Dean Ambrose for the title at Backlash on September 11. WWE creative is very much high on him and hence Styles may win the WWE World title from Dean Ambrose at Backlash.

After that, he will carry on his championship feud against Ambrose. Prior to the Survivor Series PPV, the franchise will return to the company to start from right where he left off. He will come back to challenge Styles for his record 16th WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Since he is franchise player of the WWE it makes sense that he would end up on the winning side of the dream rivalry against Styles.
However, WWE should be much careful about what they come up with because the decision of making Cena champion again means they have to bear with the fan backlash and especially, at this point when he will tie with Ric Flair’s record 16th world title reign.
