Wrestlemania 34 is still a year away. WWE will be back to New Orleans, Louisiana for the event after four years. With the recent superstar shakeup, WWE has already started planning the mega feuds for the biggest event of next year.
WWE always plans the main event for Wrestlemania much prior to the event. The biggest ones are kept reserved for the show.
This year, the shakeup process was done entirely keeping that planning in mind. As discussed on the Dirty Sheets podcast, we have got the blueprints of the WWE creative, thoroughly.
AJ Styles was the one to shift his spot from Smackdown Live and go on to Monday Night Raw. Roman Reigns was said to be the supposed exchange.
But that did not happen for two main reasons. Vince McMahon did not want to see John Cena, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns performing on the blue brand since it is still considered to be the B show. Plus, WWE is eyeing the Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar main event match from Raw at Mania.
That is possible only when both of them are present on the same brand. This made Reigns being unmoved from Raw.
Rather, Bray Wyatt was chosen to be traded to Raw. Seth Rollins was supposed to be his exchange but that did not happen with a possible Shield reunion in mind. Instead, WWE brought on Shinsuke Nakamura to open a plethora of planning around him.
Since AJ Styles is the flag-bearer of Smackdown Live, he will be the main eventer from this side. It’s a confirmed news and that’s why he is being portrayed as the face of the brand from Wrestlemania 33 onwards.
If everything remains intact then Styles vs. Nakamura for the WWE championship will headline the 34th edition of Wrestlemania.
Previously, Styles was said to have multiple feuds with the likes of Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins or even a title match with Brock Lesnar if brought to Monday Night Raw.
But, the creative has in mind that the fans always wanted to see a Nakamura vs. Styles feud. So, squaring these two in-ring technicians at the grandest stage of them all will be as they say “best for business”.
