To wipe out all the tensions of TV ratings for WWE Programming, John Cena is finally returning on Smackdown Live on this upcoming edition. It is going to be a grand return for the franchise player of the company on the Independence Day in the United States of America. This time, he is coming back with a ‘free agent’ tag on his back, as to hint that he will be available on both Raw and Smackdown, from now onwards.

With that being said, it is being widely speculated that what is in store for the Cenation Leader following the return. He was expected to back by challenging Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship. But, Randy Orton has already been booked in a title rematch inside the Punjabi Prison at Battleground PPV.

Furthermore, AJ Styles is also rejuvenating his rivalry with the United States Champion, Kevin Owens in order to set up a title match at the same PPV. He was named as the first competitor in the Independence Day Battle Royal that will crown the number one contender for the US title. As per the reports, he is also the favourite to walk out as the winner and make a Styles vs. Owens match official at Battleground.

This is an indication that John Cena will stay out of the Championship picture, for now. In case you don’t know, he has already been advertised for the upcoming Smackdown-exclusive PPV in this month which means he will compete in a match. Before that, he will have to pick up a rivalry with any superstar from the blue brand.

Rusev might be going to be the one to be pitted against the 16-time world champion as per the reports from Wrestling Observer. Cena’s return is said to be interrupted by the Bulgarian Brute who is teasing his own return for quite sometimes on the show. So, a bitter old rivalry will be renewed as part of Smackdown Live.

This match is said to be giving John Cena a major momentum upon his return who will win the match. This is a bad news for the young superstar like Rusev who deserves a lot better from the creative. His pledge for getting into the championship picture will be cut short if he digests another loss against John Cena.
