For the past couple of months, Rusev has been sending threats to the show runners of the WWE Smackdown Live. He demanded to get included in the WWE Championship scenario upon his return. In the posted videos on the social media, he pledged to get a WWE title match. He even threatened to leave the company and go back to Bulgaria if it’s not given.

Rusev was supposed to be back in the WWE as part of this storyline and face Randy Orton for the WWE championship in recent times. However, the plans of WWE creative witnessed an abrupt change, as they decided to crown Jinder Mahal as the new WWE champion at the Backlash PPV.

This was the moment when Rusev was excluded from the storyline. He did not show up on the show despite his promise. It was earlier reported that it is due to the lack of contents in the creative that he has not been able to make his return to the WWE, until date.

He is absent from the TV programming ever since the Wrestlemania season due to a shoulder surgery. For the same reason, he was not being part of the biggest event of the year in Orlando, Florida. But, as per the updates, he was set to get a big push upon his comeback during the post-Wrestlemania season.

That never happened, till date since the comeback itself did not take place, either. Meanwhile, Rusev posted a tweet on his official handle stating that he might be quitting WWE. The post only read a hashtag of #thankyourusev which is a clear indication of going away from the company.

But, according to the rumour mill, it’s just a work, as he is not leaving the WWE, anytime soon. Rather, this might be the initiation of the storyline through which he finally makes his debut on the blue brand. It is yet to see how this unfolds in the future, as the fans were all over the tweet giving responses:
