WWE News: Taboo Tuesday Concept is Set to Return

Following the debut of the WWE Draft, last year, the company has brought back several old PPV gimmicks like No Mercy or Backlash. At one point, there was talking to host the Bad Blood PPV, as well. But, the name will not be suitable in the PG era and hence this was called off.

Apart from the PPV concept, WWE also used to host some of the special episodes with Raw and Smackdown superstars back in the last decade. Cyber Sunday and Taboo Tuesday were the most popular events amongst them. According to the reports of PWInisder.com, WWE recently filed a trademark for the latter one mentioned to bring it back in a certain capacity.

Here are some of the excerpts from trademark filing that referred Taboo Tuesday as the following:

“Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”

Since the word Tuesday is attached to the name, it is quite obvious that Smackdown Live is going to host it in the near future. According to the reports from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the blue brand of the WWE and its concepts are considered to be far better than the flagship show of Raw by the fans.

So, Shane McMahon and Co. will continue to come up with some interesting scenarios in the future to attract the fans. So, this trademarked concept will be used in one or two special edition of Smackdown Live considering bigger occasions.

Further additions from cagesideseats.com suggested that the special episode of Smackdown will be much similar to that of the “Wild Card Finale” that was conducted at the very last week of 2016. It was desperate trying from the creative perspective to end the year on a high note and they became successful. So, the term Taboo Tuesday is likely to attract more audience, for sure.

The first episode under this gimmick began in the year 2004. Following its success, WWE came up with the idea of Cyber Sunday in 2006 and continued the tradition in 2008, as well before it was called off.
