WWE News: What Happened Once WWE Smackdown Went Off The Air, May 16, 2017

Last night’s Smackdown Live witnessed two first-time main event matches. The first one was contested between AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal and the second one was the WWE champion Randy Orton squaring off against Baron Corbin.
The later one was the finishing contest of the night which Orton won by delivering an RKO. Aftermath, Jinder Mahal showed up to attack Orton from behind to end the show.
There were plenty more left once Smackdown went off the air. A dark match took place between Aiden English and Tye Dillinger. The Perfect 10 defeated English with his new finisher. English also sang a song before the match started.
Plus, they were caught up at backstage during the Smackdown fallout show. Their match at the Backlash kick-off was added. Both of them were trying to make a statement in the interview.
Also, Carmella and James Ellsworth were spotted on the show where they were trying to bring out the point that Carmella has pinned Naomi on Smackdown. That makes her the first in line to challenge Naomi for the women’s title. No further announcement was made regarding this.

The Talking Smack show was also hosted by Renee young and the commissioner, Shane McMahon. Jinder Mahal was the first one to join the show vowing that how he plans to win the WWE championship at Backlash. He also noted that Renee will be the first one to interview him as the new champion.

Eric Rowan was the next guest on the show who acted in his usual bizarre way wearing a clown mask. On that note, Shane made an Eric Rowan vs. Jinder Mahal match official for this Sunday’s Backlash.

Lastly, the team of Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Naomi walked into the set to promise that they will act together to resist the group known as The Welcoming Committee. Becky concluded by saying that she know how much stronger their opposition is but they have the potential to beat them, for sure.
Also, a street fight match between Akira Tozawa and Bryan Kendrick was made official for next week’s 205 Live show.
