WWE News: WWE not bringing back the World heavyweight title
Jul 25, 2016 at 5:13 PM
It was a major day in WWE on July 19th. With the WWE brand extension Draft taking place on Smackdown Live, the landscape of the company has been changed on the day. The border line between the flagship show of WWE and the newly constructed blue brand has been drawn. With newly appointed General Managers for both the shows, there will be a healthy competition between the shows.
However, there are plenty of things that are yet to be answered. And, one of such things is the handling of the WWE championship once the Battleground pay-per-view gets over. As of now, there is no prime champion on Raw since the reigning champion Dean Ambrose has been drafted to Smackdown. It is still no clear if the WWE champion will appear on both the shows or they will introduce a separate World title as to equal both the shows.
Even treatment to other championships i.e. the US, Intercontinental and the Women’s title is also not known still now. However, a report from allwrestlingnews.com managed to get some inside planning with the prime championship, as of now. It says that WWE scheduling committee was given the task to enlist the WWE champion for both Raw and Smackdown since there are no separate champions available for both the brand.
Though, this is going to be a short-term planning as the company still has plans to bring the World title back in the picture after the Summerslam pay-per-view. Once the biggest PPV of the summer is over, there will be two separate titles for reigning WWE Champion, Dean Ambrose will have the privilege to appear on both the shows the two shows.
As per previous reports, it was thought that since WWE has got rid of the term “World heavyweight” from the championship, they are going to introduce the separate title on the first ever edition of the Smackdown Live. Since that did not happen we have to wait for official announcement.
