WWE News: The WWE World title scenario post No Mercy PPV
Oct 7, 2016 at 11:22 AM
As reported earlier, two of the biggest names from the Smackdown brand will go on to a hiatus after the No Mercy PPV in October. The PPV is the second PPV from the blue brand and will take place from Sacramento, California on October 9th. The main event from the night is all set. AJ styles will defend his WWE World title against both Dean Ambrose and John Cena in a triple threat match.
As per the reports, both John Cena and Dean Ambrose will go on to have a time-off from the company post No Mercy scenario. Dean Ambrose will be part of a movie from WWE’s home production, WWE Studios, later this year. The filming is supposed to start from November. So, we are expecting Ambrose to not appear from October end onwards. He is supposed to be off TV from a storyline angle whereas John Cena will be going to host the second season of the American Grit on Fox TV. Hence he too, will not show up until the end of this year.
It is evident that AJ Styles will be the only big name remaining on the Smackdown brand to justify his claiming of “the champ who runs the camp” after the No Mercy PPV. Speculations suggest in the absence of these two top names in WWE, Styles will pick up a championship feud against the Viper, Randy Orton. Styles had previously wished to work with Randy when he first came here in the WWE and this is going to be an automatic choice.
In addition, the rumor mill also suggests the debut of Samoa Joe on Smackdown. It is much-anticipated one since he has lost the NXT title to Nakamura and not expected to earn it back. Styles and Joe had a rich history from their TNA days and it will be worth a watch if they collide again in the main roster.
