WWE: Planning With Randy Orton For This Year’s Wrestlemania
Feb 21, 2017 at 1:15 PM
After winning the Royal Rumble match this year, Randy Orton has punched his ticket to main event Wrestlemania, once again. He was guaranteed to feature in the WWE championship match at the grandest stage of them all until now when he refused to face Bray Wyatt at the event since he still is his servant.
Now, with this happening on last week’s Smackdown, there have been some serious speculations over Orton’s future booking. The majority of the rumor mill is still trying to figure out whether the much anticipated Orton vs. Wyatt feud is scrapped or not.
If this is the case then No-DQ.com reported that Roman Reigns will be the number one contender for Bray Wyatt’s title as per WWE’s rule book. The rule says if the Royal Rumble winner is “unwilling or unable to go to WrestleMania to fight the champion, then the runner-up gets all rights and privileges.” With that being said a Reigns vs. Orton scenario is certainly possible.
However, reports from cagesideseats.com suggested that the plans are intact for the Orton vs. Wyatt feud which is being anticipated ever since Randy Orton joined the Wyatt family after the No Mercy PPV. The refusal is to bring some twist in the storyline which otherwise might turn out to be more predictable.
To show the plan as a legit one, creative might send Randy Orton on Raw, as well to pretend that he is going after the Universal Championship. This is why a battle royal has also been declared by Daniel Bryan to determine the new number one contender for the WWE championship.
To make things even dizzier AJ Styles recently spoke up wanting to face Orton in near future.
He commented:
“There are many whom I am yet to compete with, there are some Raw guys but one person I would like to lay my hands on is Randy Orton.”
As of now, the situation in the main event scenario on Smackdown is really unpredictable and anything can occur. So, we better keep an eye on the show for the latest happening, this week.
