WWE Rumour: Brock Lesnar To Remain Universal Champion For An Entire Year

Brock Lesnar grabbed the Universal Championship at the Wrestlemania 33 defeating Goldberg. Quite expectedly, his title run started with a hiatus once the biggest event of this year was over.

The championship picture scenario was so predictable before and after Wrestlemania that the fans could care less about it.

WWE’s treatment of the prime title present on the flagship show is not going to make the fans happy, anyway especially considering the future of the title. As per reports from Inquistr.com, Brock Lesnar will remain champion for an entire year counting from this year’s Wrestlemania.

Lesnar’s contract does not allow him to work regularly in the WWE. He can feature only a number of dates in a full year. So, he is expected to work only a couple or more PPVs and defend his title.

As per the earlier reports, the contract allows him to work only in four PPVs in a calendar year. He already worked two dates leaving only two for this year.

However, his deal is said to be negotiated considering that he will be the champion for a longer time on the A-show. Plus, this is the final year of his contract in the WWE which means he is supposed to work for more dates.

It is hard for the fans to not to see the universal championship present on Raw on a regular occasion. But, for this time there’s no other option reserved for the WWE. Previously, Lesnar held the championship back in 2014 and held it for 224 days. He defended it only twice before losing it at Wrestlemania 31. It is the longest title reign after CM Punk’s 434-day reign in this decade.

The reason behind keeping Lesnar unbeaten for a whole year is also something that the fans would not love, at all. WWE has planned a Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar match at next year’s Wrestlemania. Until then, the beast will be portrayed as dominating as ever.

The Big Dog will be the one to slay him on the grandest stage of them all. This will be yet another championship coronation being planned for the Big Dog of the WWE. From that point onwards, Reigns will play a superhuman character.

The WWE universe already has given massive negative reactions to him after he retired the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33. To book him with another big push like previous two Manias is supposed to fail, for sure. The company should be prepared for another major fan backlash.
