From the very beginning, WWE Smackdown was treated as a separate brand from Raw. WWE Raw had its own roster which did not compete on Smackdown. On the other hands, Smackdown had its own bunch of Superstars which did wrestle on the Monday’s flagship show from WWE. The merge was done in 2012 when Triple H came in charge and decided to name it WWE Monday Night Raw SuperShow. Since then there are not much of a brand split and the roster is available on both of the shows.
Even Raw has its own pay-per-view named Cyber Sunday. Starting from Raw Supershow wrestlers started to show up on both the shows and the interesting WWE Draft segment was gone.
Now with the increasing amount of talent and roster WWE needs to go for a brand split once again. The fans will obviously embrace the decision with a positive reaction as we all want to go back to the good old days of Raw and Smackdown. There is a lot of speculation that the WWE may be doing a brand split after WrestleMania 32 as it has become a necessity lately.
As the reports coming from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s marketing department has recently published a separate graphics for Raw and Smackdown which features different superstars. The RAW graphic features John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Kevin Owens, Alberto Del Rio, Nikki Bella andCharlotte featured as the top stars whereas SmackDown graphics and promo contain The New Day, Dolph Ziggler, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Paige as the top superstars.
The rumor of the brand split came across ever since Shane McMahon arrived on the scene and claimed his ownership for WWE Raw. The split will immensely focus on the part of the roster which is being ignored currently. The list of B or C-grade superstars will gain the benefit of being a part of the Smackdown Brand and can earn the spotlight.
