As per the recent ongoing on Smackdown Live, the upcoming United States Championship scenario might feature a feud between Kevin Owens and AJ Styles. Earlier, they collided in a matchup at the Backlash PPV in which the champion retained via a count-out win. AJ is looking forward to getting another opportunity and hence he might be granted one at the upcoming Battleground PPV.

Now, the ongoing bookings in the WWE house shows suggest the upcoming happening on the televised episodes. In the bygone live events from Smackdown two matches took place for the United States title which suggests that Rusev might return to Smackdown to face Kevin Owens for the United States title.

In a house show on June 24th in Vancouver, Canada, Rusev made his in-ring return to feature in a triple threat match for the US Championship. It featured the champion and Rusev alongside Sami Zayn. Also, this past Monday’s live event from Bakersfield, California has witnessed another title match featuring Rusev, KO, and Shinsuke Nakamura.

This might be the reason why reports from suggested that Rusev will be included in the US Championship picture upon his return on Smackdown Live in the upcoming weeks. The Bulgarian Brute was medically cleared to feature in matches quite sometimes ago but the creative was unable to bring him on live television due to lack of storylines for him.

Considering that Rusev is the one who earned a name for himself by fighting for the US title, it would be a great option for him. Due to his anti-USA gimmick, he gets the natural heat from the crowd while competing for this prestigious title which is quite adjacent to his heel gimmick.

This is just a rumour at this time and we have to wait to see what WWE creative plans for the Bulgarian Brute upon his return on Smackdown Live. It is quite unfortunate that a performer like him is absent from WWE TV even after getting cleared by the WWE doctors. We have seen him performing last in the Fastlane PPV back in March. There’s no confirmation as of when he will be inserted into televised slot on Tuesday Nights.
