The Royal Rumble match is always exciting in terms of surprise entries. The fans can expect the unthinkable or shockers to happen on the night. The event is based on its unpredictability, as always. This year, the fans would be on the edge of their seat since the WWE is surely arranging something special to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
However, the rumor mill states we might not get to see surprise returns. Cagesideseasts.com reported that the WWE is not looking to bring more legends back in the match since the event is already sold out with some big matchups and the presence of Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and the Undertaker.
From the creative’s perspective, there’s no logic of putting more effort when the match card is already stacked up. Considering that it’s a dual brand PPV, it is evident that they will be having more options to play with. So, shocking returns might not be needed for the 30-man elimination match.
The match card is going to be stacked with some big title matches on that night. Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens has already been announced for the WWE Universal Championship . The WWE World title match is also a big one with AJ Styles defending his title against John Cena.
The Raw Women’s championship will be on the line as Charlotte vs. Bayley will fight out for it. We might get to see Alexa Bliss defending her Women’s championship against Becky Lynch, as well. Plus, there will be a Cruiserweight championship match between the current champion Rich Swann and Neville.
With so much already on the card, the WWE is looking to sell the prestigious Rumble match solely with the presence of Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and the Deadman. The gatherings of these big names are enough to come up with a successful night for sure. In addition, there will be some major debuts from the NXT roster like Samoa Joe or Tye Dillinger which might make things more interesting. Hence, it is quite understandable if WWE does not reserve surprise elements on that night.
