WWE Rumour: Lack Of Storylines Forcing To Come Up With Multi-Superstar Matches

In the recent memory, we have seen the tradition of tag team contests getting back into WWE programming, yet again. This type of matches are randomly booked like the live events and generates disinterest for the fans into the contents. Both of this week’s Raw and Smackdown main events were comprised of such tag team contests.
This indicates for one of the biggest plagues of WWE creative and that is the lack of storyline perspective, again. For many occasions in the past, many WWE legends pointed out that the company is not willing to go for long-term storytelling due to the same reason. It forced a number of superstars to get lost in the process and then quit the company.
As a result, we have seen numerous talents like Ryback, Wade Barrett, Alberto Del Rio, Cody Rhodes and more leaving the company and not willing to re-sign. Almost every one of them has complained about the fact that there’s a lack of creative freedom in the company which makes thing stale for a certain one’s character.
Meanwhile, Dave Meltzer also opened up with the problem stating that the company is storing the major lineups for the upcoming big event of the summer i.e. Summerslam. So, there’s no way that strong storylines will be wasted at this point of time. As a result, we will be seeing some more multi-superstars matchup in the near future.
The Smackdown women’s division might be the worst victim of this rule since they are literally lost ever since Wrestlemania was over. Former champion Alexa Bliss was shifted to the flagship brand making things real bad for them. The creative has come up with some random bookings for them with a good vs. evil scenario.
This was the reason we have witnessed a huge six-woman tag team match among them at the bygone Backlash PPV. No twists were reserved for it, whatsoever making it a complete dud.
The tradition is not supposed to end in the near future. The upcoming Raw-exclusive PPV, Extreme Rules will also witness a fatal-5-way match for the main event. Previously a tournament was supposed to happen to crown a new number one contender which was pulled off for a same “lack of storyline” reason.
