WWE Rumour: Planning Around The Raw Women’s Championship

Alexa Bliss is the Raw Women’s champion who is set to defend her title at the Summerslam PPV in August. On the flagship show, there has been no one in recent times to match up to her antics and dethrone her from the reign. With the dominant heel person that she possesses, it was quite easy for her to pick up the title from Bayley just after moving to Raw.

The handover took place at the Payback PPV where the ‘wicked-witch’ of the WWE defeated the hugger, quite convincingly. If that was not enough, she literally squashed her on the next PPV, Extreme Rules proving that she runs the Women’s division, now.

In case, she keeps on continuing the title reign even after the Summerslam PPV, she will hold the title for 112 days. It means that WWE Creative might allow her to surpass Charlotte Flair’s previous reign as the Raw Women’s Champion at some point. Little Miss Bliss has already made a record by becoming the first-ever Raw and Smackdown titleholder, as well.

Now, the question remains against whom she will defend her title at the biggest event of the summer. As per the previous reports, a multi-women match was likely to be announced for the title. It was supposed to be a fatal-4-way match involving Alexa Bliss, Bayley, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax.

But, that plan might have been nixed out as per the current updates. According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it will now be a singles contest. This is the reason why Kurt Angle announced a number one contender’s match between Bayley and Sasha Banks, last week with the winner getting the shot at Summerslam.

Going by the recent happenings on Raw, Sasha Banks will be the winner to challenge the champion. She deserves a rematch, anyway since Alexa Bliss decided to run away with her title during their match at the Great Balls of Fire PPV.

Nia Jax’s presence might turn out to be the deciding factor, as she would cost Bayley the spot. This might set up another women’s match between Jax and Bayley at Summerslam. We will have to wait till the next episode of Raw to get the confirmed picture around it.
