WWE Rumour: The Finish of No Mercy Title Match Changed Due to Asuka’s Debut

On September 24th, the No Mercy PPV will be hosted by WWE Raw. Last year, the PPV returned following the brand split as part of a Smackdown-exclusive event. Primarily it is considered as a B-show in the PPV calendar of the WWE.
However, this year, the flagship brand has scheduled Roman Reigns vs John Cena, and Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman matches on the show to make it one of the biggest nights of the year.
Apart from these two matches, there would be a huge Raw Women’s Championship match, as well. The new champion, Alexa Bliss will be defending her title against three other names, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, and Emma. It was quite an unusual booking in comparison to the predictable past matches from the Raw brand.
Previously, it was announced that Sasha Banks would get her rematch against the champion in a singles contest. However, later, Nia Jax and Emma pledged for a title opportunity and defeated Sasha & Alexa in a tag team match to get inserted into the championship match.
The general thinking was that the insertion of Emma was to protect the other three competitors in the match. She was the most likely one to digest the pinfall at the hands of the retaining champion. It is quite understandable considering that Nia is getting a push and the creative team is not likely to give him a pin.
According to a recent report from cagesideseats.com, this predictable finish of the match might get changed. The entire thing now will be planned to keep in mind that Asuka will debut on Raw, sooner. The creative team of Raw intends to make Emma her first opponent on the main roster. Hence, she is not likely to get pinned.
In that case, Sasha Banks might be handed over the duty to put over the champion. Plus, it’s quite coincidental that Emma was Asuka’s first opponent at NXT, too. So, this is going to be basically a reincarnation of a feud for the Empress of Tomorrow. It was also stated that Asuka would be the centrepiece for the Raw Women’s division, going forward.
