WWE: Smackdown Live Full Results: July 11th, 2017

The anticipation of another great edition of Smackdown was built up with a monumental title change. All of a sudden, AJ Styles had become the new United States Champion in a live event at the Madison Square Garden House Show on last Friday. Plus, the Battleground PPV is just two weeks away from us. So, here’s how the further hype ups were created on last night’s Smackdown hosted by the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

AJ Styles kicked off this week’s Smackdown Live to celebrate his US title win at the MSG live show. He wants to pull up the prestige of this championship and announced an open challenge to anybody. John Cena accepted it and showed up to start a big title match in the opening contest.

The match never went underway, as Kevin Owens showed up after the bell to claim a rematch for the US title. The match got cancelled after Rusev arrived on the scene and tried to attack Cena from behind. A chaos broke out after which Rusev stood tall locking in the accolade on Cena.

Jinder Mahal faced off Tye Dillinger in a nontitle match and quite easily defeated him with a Khallas. After the match, he cut a promo on the Battleground PPV. He also announced that next week on Smackdown Live, we will witness the Punjabi Prison.

Shane McMahon announced that at the Battleground PPV there will be a fatal five-way elimination match. The winner of this contest will become the number one contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Carmella tried to take a legal way so that James Ellsworth can be back on the show but she failed.

The commissioner further booked a tag team match with Charlotte and Becky teaming up against Natalya and Tamina. The heel team up picked up the win after Tamina was able to connect with a superkick and pin Charlotte to pull off a shocker.

Shunsuke Nakamura was scheduled to lock horns with Baron Corbin in a singles match. But, it never went underway since the latter one ambushed his opponent from behind. The Artist tried to recuperate and battle his opponent but Corbin walked off the ring.

Mike and Maria Kanellis continued their storyline with Sami Zayn by attacking him at backstage. Medical attention was arranged for Zayn after Mike smashed a flower vase on his head. Xavier Woods pinned Jey Uso in a singles match via a flying elbow off the top rope.

After what transpired in the opening segment, AJ Styles and John Cena teamed up against Rusev and Kevin Owens in a tag match. The face team picked up the win after Styles neutralised Rusev with an elbow and Cena connected with the Attitude Adjustment for the pinfall. They celebrated to close this week’s Smackdown.
