WWE: Smackdown Live Full Results: July 4th, 2017

We expected a jam-packed edition of Smackdown Live with a returning John Cena. A rap off a contest in the presence of rapper Wale has also been confirmed. Plus, we have got a championship match and the Independence Day Battle Royal. The night was hosted by the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona and here are the results.

The special edition of WWE Smackdown on the Independence Day kicked off with the returning John Cena. The crowd gave a thunderous reaction to the franchise player. He goes to cut a promo and the upcoming dream matches that he might get as a free agent.

His promo was cut short by another returning Rusev, who yelled at Cena by saying that while he was rehabbing from his shoulder injury, Cena was filming movies at Hollywood. He went on to insult the Americans present in the arena leading Cena to ask for a match. But, Rusev backed down to end the segment.

Over a number of complaints by Kevin Owens for not including AJ Styles and Chad Gable into the Battle Royal, Daniel Bryan pitted these two in a match with the winner getting the chance to go ahead to the elimination match. Styles picked up a quick win via a Pele Kick and a Phenomenal Forearm.

Carmella and James Ellsworth were present inside the ring to brag about the Money in the Bank win from last week. The Champion Naomi showed up to interrupt them by cutting her own promo. Afterwards, Daniel Bryan suspended Ellsworth for interrupting last week’s match. He also fined him with $10,000 and forced to leave the building.

The match for Smackdown Women’s Championship was contested next between Naomi and Lana. Naomi picked up a lightning fast win after locking in a strange submission move of her own. Following the match, Tamina showed up to console Lana.

Aiden English had another confrontation with Randy Orton inside the ring leading to a match between the two. The Viper went ferociously with Aiden’s antiques and hit him with the bell to get disqualified. Jinder Mahal showed up following the segment when Randy promised to destroy him inside the Punjabi Prison.

At backstage, Baron Corbin delivered a sneak attack from behind to Shinsuke Nakamura. Renee Young was interviewing Mike and Maria Kanellis when Sami Zayn appeared to distract then both continuing the rift.

The Independence Day Battle Royal took place at the main event of Smackdown. The last three standing were Tye Dillinger, Sami Zayn, and AJ Styles. The latter two remained as the final two after Tye got eliminated. Styles hit a Pele Kick on Sami to topple him over the top rope and become the winner.

Following the match, Kevin Owens entered the ring to deliver an ambush to Styles. But, Styles connected with a kick to send him away. He held the United States title above his head to close Smackdown.
