As WWE Battleground is over, we officially headed towards the new era of WWE, starting with last night’s WWE Raw. With Summerslam just 4 weeks away from us, we got an idea of how WWE is going to intend post-brand split era.
Since there is no prime champion on Raw as the reigning champion Dean Ambrose has been drafted to Smackdown, it was evident that a new championship plan was to unfold on Raw. Stephanie and Mick Foley announced that there will be a new WWE Universal Championship introducing at WWE Summerslam. As we learnt, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins will lock head for the new title.
Now it was time for Smackdown Live to throw a mammoth challenge to Raw which was seen totally re-packaged, last night. So, it was time for the blue brand to live on air with a totally new package as well. It has got new video intro package and theme song and then Bryan kicked off the show with a YES chant.
The whole new roster was present at the ringside as Shane was addressing them. He came up with a blockbuster announcement that starting from September 11, Smackdown Live will hold its own PPV, Backlash. Now, since there’s no opponent for Dean Ambrose at Summerslam, they have to find one.
In order to do that, Bryan announced there will be a Six-pack challenge at Smackdown Live, tonight. Five competitors will be John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Dolph Ziggler, Baron Corbin and AJ Styles. The sixth spot will be open for all and to fill up the spot they will conduct a Battle Royal. The winner of the battle royal will go on to fill up the spot.
Apollo Crews headed on to become the sixth member of the match by winning the battle royal. He joined the main event of Smackdown Live for later the night.
