WWE: Top 5 Booking Options For AJ Styles After Elimination Chamber
Feb 12, 2017 at 11:53 AM
AJ Styles had a career year in the WWE ever since he made his debut in the 2016 Royal Rumble match. He has been a Phenomenal WWE champion on the Smackdown brand stealing the prime championship from Dean Ambrose. It was expected that his title reign would have come to an end with the Wrestlemania season closing by and it did at the Rumble event at the hands of John Cena. Now, the question is what’s next for him after the Elimination Chamber where the main focus should be on Wrestlemania? An in-ring magician like Styles deserves the very best at the biggest PPV of them all and here are 5 scenarios that might suit him the best.
Feud with Shane McMahon
It is unlikely that Styles will be winning back his WWE championship at the Chamber match. Hence, he should go on to have a rivalry where there’s always a natural heat. We have previously seen how much Styles is furious with the Smackdown commissioner when he first announced the Elimination Chamber match prior to the Royal Rumble PPV. This should be continued after he once again fails to capture the title at this Sunday’s PPV. He had already said that everyone on Smackdown has some vendetta against him and should continue with this to take the place of Shane-O-Mac’s opponent at Wrestlemania. The audience will love this natural heel vs. face feud for sure.
Face Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental title
The match should be a repetitive one for sure after what these two have gone through the entire summer. But, the recent rumors suggested that the creative is planning to have this match in order to plan a big bout for Ambrose at Wrestlemania. The Lunatic Fringe might have lost direction after becoming the Intercontinental champion and going against the old rival will certainly revitalize his career. Plus, Styles himself wanted to become the IC titleholder. This would also give the creative some more reasons to book the title properly to keep its prestige, intact.
A feud with Baron Corbin
Styles is so versatile stepping into the ring that simply does not matter whether he’s a heel or a babyface. The bottom line is the crowd will definitely cheer for him. Hence, the creative should turn him into a face to give Corbin the opportunity to share the ring which will raise his own credibility. The power of Corbin will be a great match up with the in-ring performance of Styles. This might turn out to be a lifetime opportunity for him after he comes out as the winner in a match against the Phenomenal One at the biggest stage of them all. His career should soar high as a main event star post-Wrestlemania season. Furthermore, these two are looking for opponents for themselves. So, what better way to make them square-off against each other?
A feud with Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler has given his very best to cement himself as the veteran heel on the blue brand but the lack of proper opponents might ruin his heel turn too. He is desperately trying to lock horns with a worthy opponent and who better than Styles. Surely, Styles would become a face for this one feud and the mic work between these two will be wonderful. Plus, both of them are extremely agile inside the ring making each encounter something special. Ziggler’s falling career will certainly get a huge boost with Styles being his Wrestlemania opponent.
Championship feud with Randy Orton
It might be a wild guess but indeed is a dream match for all the pro-wrestling fans. Even though both of them were drafted to the same brand, they never confronted once. So, WWE might swerve us by giving Styles his second WWE championship reign at the conclusion of the Chamber match. The veteran certainly deserves this and it will be a mega match between Orton and Styles at Wrestlemania. It really does not matter whether Styles turn into a face or not since he has all the tools to make this feud a success. With a heel Orton by his side, it should be a classic bout between them.
