We have seen a triumphant return from the COO of the company, Triple H to crown a new WWE Universal Champion. He turned on Seth Rollins to everyone’s shock. Also, there’s a lot going on as we head towards the PPV, Backlash from the Smackdown brand. Apart from these headliners, there are certain fall outs from Summerslam that are filling up the rumor mill. Here are the top 5 of them.
Del Rio to leave WWE once suspension gets lifted
Mexico’s greatest export is strongly considering to leaving WWE once he is free from the suspension. He is not expecting any better chance on the blue brand even after the ban gets lifted and hence he is not willing to extend his contract. On the other hand, his girlfriend has his contract with WWE, till 2019. Hence, she will be continuing to serve the company with better storyline once she returns on Raw.
Bayley’s debut got preponed
Bayley is being compared to AJ Lee in terms of the popularity she has by none other than Vince McMahon. Sasha Banks was supposed to have a long title reign but the sudden back injury caused her to drop the title at Summerslam. Bayley was called to the main roster to challenge Charlotte. Sasha Banks will look for a heel turn upon return to feud with Bayley for the title she dropped.
Plans for the Universal title
WWE Fans felt heart-broken to see Finn Balor relinquishing the Universal title due to the shoulder injury. The original planning post-Summerslam was to start a feud with Owens and Balor for the Universal Championship. Even a triple threat championship match among Owens, Jericho, and Balor was on the cards after Clash of the Champions is over. However, Owens was crowned with the championship belt, early after Balor’s injury occurred.
More controversial angles
The social media was all over the place after shoot segments took place on Summerslam and on last week’s Talking Smack. Brock Lesnar going off-script against Orton or The Miz talking trash against Daniel Bryan kept the fans over them. Hence, WWE is planning to come up with more such segments, in the future. Rumors also suggest that Orton was not present at the meeting where the finishing segment of Summerslam was decided. The beatdown was scripted but the blood was an accident.
Star power of the Bella Queen
Nikki Bella returned at Summerslam to replace Eva Marie. It was her star power that kept the originally planned match for the Summerslam kick-off show was pushed to the main show. Hence, Cesaro vs. Sheamus was pushed to the kick-off. If Nikki was not supposed to be cleared for in-ring return, then it would have been Bayley to take her spot. Nikki will now be used to get more prestige to the newly born Smackdown Women’s championship.
