WWE will start the preparations for the next PPV in line now that the inaugural Great Balls of Fire PPV is over. Two weeks from now, Smackdown will host the Battleground PPV in Philadelphia. So, the lineups for the event will be set up, finally. We should also remember that it is going to be the final PPV prior to Summerslam.

So, before we get to the biggest event of the summer, we expect to have some filler feuds on the blue brand, for now. The second last episode of Smackdown prior to the Battleground PPV will be hosted by the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.

In case you don’t know, AJ Styles is our new United States Champion on the blue brand. This past Friday on the WWE Live Madison Square Garden show, he defeated Kevin Owens to become the proud title-holder of the prestigious championship. WWE and the show-runner have congratulated the Phenomenal One for this accomplishment.

Now, he might kick off the show to address the WWE Universe and confront the former champion. This will set up a rematch for the US title at the Battleground PPV, for sure.

The returning John Cena has already started a feud with Rusev. The match between these two has been made official for the PPV. It is going to be a flag match. But, before that, it will be interesting to see how the WWE officials build up the bad blood between the old bitter rivals.

In the WWE Championship picture, Randy Orton is making quite an impact on the champion, Jinder Mahal for the past couple of weeks. The title-holder might feature in some in-ring competition tonight before he locks horns against The Viper inside the Punjabi Prison.

In the women’s title picture, Naomi has overcome the challenge provided by Lana for the past couple of weeks, quite easily. It might be time to hear her next challenge at the Battleground PPV. Considering the scenario, the next title match might turn out to be a multi-women match. Plus, Lana will start an alliance with powerful Tamina.

There have been a couple of instances between Maria-Mike Kanellis and Sami Zayn for the last couple of weeks. Further set up for a match at the Battleground PPV between them will be made on Smackdown. The rivalry between The Usos and The New Day will continue, as well.
