Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury but is set to make his comeback in the three-match T20I series against Australia.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was a relieved man after Jasprit Bumrah made his comeback after an injury layoff. Earlier, the pacer was ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury. The Men in Blue felt his absence badly and failed to go beyond the Super Four, losing to Babar Azam’s Pakistan and Dasun Shanaka’s Sri Lanka.

Jasprit Bumrah’s Absence In Asia Cup 2022 Didn’t Go Well For The Indian Team: Rohit Sharma

The 34-year-old Rohit Sharma stated that Jasprit Bumrah is an attacking option and his absence hurt the Indian team to a large extent.

“Bumrah is a very important player. The way he has performed over the last few years has been fantastic. He is an attacking bowler and if such a bowler isn’t a part of the team, it doesn’t go well for the team,” Rohit was quoted as saying in a press conference.

“Good to have Bumrah back and I hope he stays fit and bowls as fast as he can, which he normally does,” he added.

Pacer Jasprit Bumrah is now set to take part in the three-match T20I series against Australia from September 20 onwards. The first ODI will take place at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday. He has taken 69 T20I scalps in 58 T20Is averaging a mere 19.46.

Jasprit Bumrah Last Played On England Tour And Missed West Indies And Zimbabwe Tour Besides Asia Cup

The 28-year-old Jasprit Bumrah last played on the tour of England where India won both the ODI and T20I series. Thereafter, he didn’t take part in the West Indies and Zimbabwe tour, after which a back injury ended his Asia Cup campaign.

Jasprit Bumrah last played a competitive game during the ODI series against England last month. He was then rested for the recently-concluded tour of West Indies where India played 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. He was also not included in the ODI squad for the Zimbabwe tour.
