Asia Cup 2023 is likely to be moved from Pakistan to UAE after India showed reluctance to move to their neighbouring country due to security reasons. Whereas The BCCI secretary Jay Shah already suggested that the tournament should be moved out of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 came to end with Lahore Qalandars winning the title in back-to-back editions. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi spoke to the media on different aspects after PSL 2023 ended. At Asia Cup 2023, PCB Chief pointed out that The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has a big influence due to its financial power.
“It’s important to see how other members (of ACC) look at our stance on Asia Cup. What they think is important, but in the end we must realise how much clout the BCCI with its financial power carries in world cricket,” said in the press conference.
The 2023 Asia Cup will be the 16th edition of the tournament–and the matches played will be in a One-day International format. Pakistan was announced to host the marquee event.
“I have been in contact with senior members of ACC. I have informed them about our problems and we will try and find honourable solutions to the problems,” he further added.
