Former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja made a shocking allegation against the Pakistan administration for trying to create a rift among the Pakistan players. Raja accused the management committee led by Najam Sethi of creating differences in opinions among the players.
Former Pakistan cricketer, Ramiz Raja speaking to a local channel, said that PCB management is “sowing seeds of discord” to split the camaraderie among the players and added that Pakistan skipper Babar Azam wants to provide opportunities for the players with good potential.
“PCB administration is trying to sow the seed of discord among the players, Babar Azam believes that every player should have the opportunity to be a part of the team and those who perform well should be given a chance,” Ramiz Raja said.
They have been constant rivalries and quarrels among the Pakistan players and the latest was the comment of Mohammad Amir on their skipper Babar Azam and Usman Qadir speaking about the management’s decision to drop him from the Pakistan team and many more.
Pakistan Team is currently playing the T20 series against the Kiwis, Babar Azam team is currently leading the five-match series 2-1 on home soil, The Men in Green will take on the Kiwis in the final match of the T20 series on April 24 (Monday).
Ramiz Raja feels that the concept of a neutral venue is not a feasible option for the Asia Cup and it cannot lead to the restarting of bilateral cricket matches between India and Pakistan.
“Opting for a neutral venue, would not be beneficial for Pakistan,” Ramiz Raja added.
The last time, India toured Pakistan in 2006 was under the leadership of present Indian Coach Rahul Dravid. The last bilateral series between the two sides happened during 2012/13 after which the two teams met only during the ICC events.
Earlier, PCB chief Najam Sethi expressed displeasure over Jay Shah’s statement on the multinational tournament and stated if BCCI doesn’t allow the Indian team to Pakistan for Asia Cup, then Pakistan might not visit India for the World Cup.
The six-nation Asia Cup 2023, which will be played in a 50-over format and is likely to be played in the first part of September 2023, has grouped India and Pakistan with a qualifier. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka are included in the other group.
