Breaking: India vs Pakistan series cancelled

The much speculated India vs Pakistan limited-overs series which was expected to be held from 24th December 2015 to 5th January 2016, has been cancelled.

The two Asian Cricket giants share a historic rivalry in Cricket and the series was supposed to be an exciting occasion for the two nations. It was a tournament for which the people of both countries were waiting eagerly to happen.

The tournament was scheduled to consist three One Day Internationals and two Twenty 20 games. The two teams played against in a series back in December 2012. India lost the ODI series then and drew the T20 series and would have wanted o get a payback.

The venues for the games were only left to be announced and now it has been called off which will be heartbreaking for both the countries.

PCB chief Shahryar Khan was quoted saying by Dawn, “We were hoping for some positive development finally but it is very disappointing that cricket was not discussed in the meeting between the Indian Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The prospects of organising a series now seem very bleak and we stand to lose at least $50 million under the current scenario. We have been informally told that Swaraj will talk on cricket and decide the fate of the series.”

However, Indian media reported earlier that Indian government had approved the series. Pakistan Government were also thought to be okay with series getting on the way, but the talks between BCCI and PCB did not go well.

But media reports on Friday morning informed that the series has not got the necessary approval from the Indian government. The Indian and Pakistani cricket teams were expected to play a three-match One-Day International (ODI) and two-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series in Sri Lanka, a neutral venue. The BCCI had said that it will not allow its team to play in the UAE, where Pakistan was slated to host India after they had signed a MoU last year.

Pakistan wanted to host the series this time as India held the series last term in 2012, but BCCI president Shashank Manohar made it clear that India team will not travel to UAE to play Pakistan because of the suspicious activities which may occur in the country.

PCB chairman said, “We hoped the situation would improve, but we’ve now run out of time. We will now examine our legal position.”

Breaking: Garry Monk gets the sack

Swansea City have announced that they have parted ways with Garry Monk after a consecutive run of poor performances by the club.

The Premier League side’s performance this season isn’t up to the mark as they are struggling at the bottom half of the league table with 14 points from 15 matches. Under Garry Monk the side started their campaign on a high as they defeated Manchester United earlier this season. But their bright start slowly faded away as they kept on losing games. They are currently at the 15th position in the league table.

The 36-year-old former Swansea star had joined the club last season as manager. He was impressive in his debut season as Swansea City finished 8th in the league.

Unfortunately Monk’s graph deteriorated this season and thus forced to leave the club today.

Twitter reactions: Liverpool thrash Manchester City, Manchester United fans happy

Liverpool travelled to Manchester to face in-form Manchester City at Etihad tonight and came back with a brilliant 4-1 scoreline in their favour. The Cityzens, who have been the best team in the League this season so far, have been humiliated badly by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team. The Reds outplayed them in every possible department and the scoreline could have been worse if Joe Hart was not in an inspirational form tonight.

Klopp’s geggenpressing football is getting fruits at Anfield as the Reds chased every ball and covered every blade of grass on the pitch and hit their opponents on the counter. Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala scored against his own side after a brilliant attack by the Reds.

Two Brazilians for Liverpool, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino were on song as well as they created each other’s goal. Coutinho, who loves to score against City, scored his fourth goal against the same side in the last five fixtures.

It was also his fourth goal in his last three games. Firmino scored the third Liverpool goals after assisting both of the former goals. It was his best display so far in Liverpool shirt since signing for Liverpool.

Sergio Aguero, whose return to action, was the highlighting topic of the game, showed his presence with a brilliant individual goal just ahead of the half-time whistle but City could never come back into the game. Liverpool stayed strong defensively and got the fourth goal of them from the feet of their leader in defence, Martin Skrtel who scored with a brilliant strike.

The win by Liverpool have made Manchester United fans happy as well as they are in a good position in the table thanks to the hammering of City.

Here are twitter reactions from the game:

Twitter reactions: Manchester United beat Watford, fans react on Twitter

Manchester United will return home with 3 points from Vicarage Road Stadium as they have beaten Watford 2-1 in an eventful game in the Premier League game week 13 opener. Watford striker Troy Deeney scored in both ends in the dying minutes of the game to make it a nailbiter.

Deeney who came up as a hero with a late equaliser from the penalty spot for the hosts tonight went from hero to zero in the final five minutes as he turned in Bastian Schweinsteiger’s injury-time shot as Louis van Gaal’s side retuned to the top of the Premier League table.

Memphis Depay scored an early goal for the visitors in his first start since being hauled off at half-time against Arsenal in October. He showed great confidence by breaking the deadlock with a volley after just 11 minutes.

Ander Herrera added to the concerns of the fans and the manager as he was forced off with an injury shortly after assisting Depay for the goal and added a further name in the long injury list of the Red Devils.

Manchester United controlled the game mostly but needed service from David de Gea on numerous occasion and the Spaniard did not let them down. Watford looked to have snatched a point when Deeney converted a late penalty, ending United’s long run without conceding, only for the striker to turn Bastian Schweinsteiger’s injury time shot into his own net.
