Dutch Open Grand Prix Gold: Ajay Jayaram, Manu Attri/ Sumeeth Reddy sail into the finals
On day 5 of the Dutch Open grand Prix Gold, Ajay Jayaram and doubles pair of Sumeeth Reddy/ Manu Attri entered into the finals with some great performances. Ajay Jayaram would be looking to defend the title while Manu Attri/ Sumeeth Reddy would be looking to win their Grand Prix Gold title.
Ajay Jayaram took on Goh Soon Huat in the semi finals. Ajay Jayaram won the match in straight sets 21-14,21-15. In the first game, the Indian dominated the proceedings from the start winning points at a stretch and building pressure on the opponent and winning finally at 21-14. In the second game Jayaram continued his aggressive play to take the game and match easily at 21-15. He will meet Raul Must of Estonia in the finals of the tournament today.
In the men’s doubles Manu and Sumeeth took on Andrew Elllis and Peter Mills of England.The match was extended to three sets before the Indians came over the resistance and won.
The first game was closely fought with shots and net play. Sumeeth Reddy and Manu won at 22-20. In the second game the British pair came back and managed to win at 21-19. In the decider the Indian pair came back with vigour and reduced the resistance of opponents to low level finally winning the game 21-14 and the match 22-20,19-21 and 21-14. They will meet the Malaysian pair in the finals.
