Australian Open Super Series: Saina and Srikanth progress into the semi finals
It was a great day for Indian team as Saina Nehwal and K Srikanth won their respective quarter finals match at the Australian Open Super Series at Sydney just few moments. Both Indian players won their matches in two straight games.
K Srikanth took on Korean qualifier Heo K H. K Srikanth dominated the Korean qualifier and looked in complete control of the match. The Indian player won the first set 21-18. In the second game also Srikanth played an aggressive game and won the second set 21-17 to progress into semi-finals of the tournament. He will face Vittignhus of Denmark tomorrow.
In the women’s section Saina Nehwal took on Rachnok Intanon. In the first game both players fought for each point. At the interval Saina Nehwal led 11-10. After the interval the fight for each point continued. Saina Nehwal played an excellent game and both players were equal at 26-26 before Saina Nehwal took 2 points to win the first set 28-26.
In the second game Saina dominated Inatnon and took an early 4-1 lead. Inatnon came back well in the game by taking 5 successive points to lead 6-4. Saina raised her game and took a commanding 11-7 lead at the interval. After the interval , Saina continued her dominance and won the second set 21-16 to progress into the semi-finals of the tournament.
