Saina Nehwal beat Sayaka Takashi in the 3rd round at the BWF World Championship played at Jakarta just few minutes ago. It was a brilliant performance by Saina Nehwal who was trailing the first game but came back and won the match.
In the first game Takashi was aggressive with her stroke play and did not allow Saina to play her game. She took an 8-1 lead. Saina came back with 2 consecutive points. At the interval Takashi led 11-4. After the interval Saina Nehwal came took 5 consecutive points to reduce the lead to 9-11. Takashi then took 2 points for 13-9 lead. Saina Nehwal took the advantage of the errors made by Takashi to equal the scores at 13-13. Both players took alternate points till 18-18. Saina Nehwal then took 3 successive points to take the first game 21-18.
In the second game, Saina Nehwal took the control of the game right from the start taking a 6-2 lead. The Indian ace player was leading 10-5 as Takashi took 4 consecutive points in a row to reduce the lead 9-10 in favor of Saina Nehwal. At the interval Saina Nehwal led 11-9. After the interval Takashi tried to make a match out of it but Saina Nehwal played some excellent badminton and won the second game 21-14.
Saina Nehwal moves into the quarter finals. Earlier in the day PV Sindhu also qualified for the quarter finals with a win over Li Xuerui.
