Jayaram, Attri and Sumeeth enters semi finals of Dutch Open Grand Prix Gold
On day 4 of the Dutch Open Grand Prix Gold Event, the Indian shuttler had a good day with men’s singles player Ajay Jayaram and doubles pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy have entered into the semi-finals while RMV Guru Sai Dutt was knocked out in the quarter-finals of the tournament yesterday.
Ajay Jayaram took on Iskandar of Malaysia. Jayaram won the match in three sets 21-19, 18-21 and 21-14. In the first game it was neck to neck battle but Jayaram took a 3-7 lead, but Iskander came back and equaled at 8-8 and continued till 12-12.
The Indian player took a 3 points led and won the first set 21-19.
In the second game, Jayaram started well taking a 5-0 lead but Iskander came strongly and won 8 points back to back. Iskander continued his dominance winning the second set 21-18.
In the final game, Jayaram dominated Iskander starting well taking a 4-0 lead but Iskander came back to equal at 5-5. Jayaram took an 11-6 lead. Iskander came back to reduce the margin to only 1 point at 10-11 but Jayaram did not allow him to come back into the match and won the third set 21-14 to move into the semi-finals of the tournament while Guru Sai Dutt lost in three sets to Raul Must 21-19,14-21 and 18-21.
In the men’s double category, Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy took on Max Schwenger and Zurowener of Germany.
In the first game, both pairs started off well taking alternate points to equalize at 9-9 but Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy took 3 successive points for a 12-9 lead. The German pair came back and equaled the score at 12-12. The German pair won the first set 21-18. In the second game, Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy played a much stronger game and won points on a consistent basis and won the second set 21-13.
In the deciding game, both pairs took alternate points till 10-10 and the Indian pair took the lead and building the advantage by winning points consistently and won the third set 21-19 moving into the semi-finals of the tournament.
