PV Sindhu enters into the finals of Macau Open Grand Prix Gold

PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi in the semi-finals of Macau Open Grand Prix Gold just a few moments. The match went to three sets and PV Sindhu won it 21-8,15-21 and 21-16. It was an excellent game by PV Sindhu who played some excellent badminton.

In the first game, Yamaguchi started off well taking the first two points. After that PV Sindhu came back strongly equaling first at 2-2. PV Sindhu put the pressure on her opponent and won 7 successive points to lead 11-3 at the interval. After the interval, PV Sindhu continued her domination 6 points in a row to take a commanding 17-4 lead. PV Sindhu won the first set comfortably at 21-8 easily.

In the second game both players began well taking alternate points till 2-2. After that PV Sindhu dominated and took a 6-2 lead before Yamaguchi came back and reduced the gap to 7-9. At the interval PV Sindhu led 11-8. After the interval Yamaguchi was aggressive with her badminton and PV Sindhu too made a lot of mistakes. Yamaguchi took 3 successive points to equal the score at 11-11. An excellent rally took place with both players matching shot by shot and the point went in favor of PV Sindhu for a 12-11 lead. PV Sindhu looked to close out the match at 14-12 but Yamaguchi came back strongly to equal the score at 15-15. Yamaguchi took 6 successive points in a row to win the second set 21-15.

In the deciding game both players began well taking alternate points till 2-2. PV Sindhu then played some excellent smashes and drop shots which made Yamaguchi confused. PV Sindhu took a commanding 7-4 lead. At the interval PV Sindhu took an 11-5 lead. After the interval PV Sindhu was leading 14-6 and then 17-10. Yamaguchi took 3 successive points to reduce the gap at 13-17. PV Sindhu held her nerves and won the third set 21-16.

She will face the winner of Mitani and qualifier player tomorrow.
