Sai Pranneth loses in the quarter finals of Macau Open Grand Prix Gold

Sai Praneeth loses in the quarterfinals to Goon Haut of Malaysia in three sets 16-21,23-21 and 13-21 at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold event played earlier today. It was a good performance by Sai but was not able to pressure on the opponent and let the match slip away.

In the first game, Goon Haut began off to a positive note as he played some aggressive badminton and did not allow Sai Praneeth to come back into the match. Goon Haut was aggressive with his badminton and played excellent smashes and drop shots which Praneeth was not able to grab the chance. At the interval, Goh Hoot was leading 11-9. After the interval, Goon Haut Hoot did not let slip the game away and won the first game 21-16.

In the second game, both players fought for each point. At the interval, Sai Praneeth led 11-10. After the interval, it was a neck to neck battle till 21-21 but Sai Praneeth held his nerve to get 2 successive points winning the second set 23-21.

In the third and deciding set Goon Haut began on an aggressive note taking an early  6-2 lead. At the interval, Goon Haut led 11-8. After the interval, Goon Haut put tremendous pressure on the Indian player and won the third set 21-13 easily.
