Saina Nehwal loses in the quarter finals of French Open Super Series

Saina Nehwal the world Champion lost to 8th seeded Thailand’s Intanon in the quarter finals of the French Open Super Series at Paris just few moments ago. It was a disappointing performance by Saina who was outplayed in all departments as she lost in two straight sets at 21-9, 21-15

In the first game, Intanon got the first point of the match. Both players took alternate points till 4-4. Intanon played some excellent badminton and got 4 successive points for 8-4 lead. At the interval Intanon led 11-6. After the interval the Thai player got 6 successive points to get a lead of 17-6. It was a game of excellent shots and placements by Intanon.

Saina had no answers for her placements as she either hit it out or was not able to reach the shuttle. The Thai player dominated Saina and never allowed the Indian player to come back in the match. Intanon played some excellent smashes and drop shots to take the first game 21-9 very easily. Saina never appeared a champion in the first game.

In the second game the Thai player started well taking a 4-0 lead with some excellent drop shots and smashes. Saina Nehwal tried to come back in the match but Intanon played some brilliant badminton. At the interval the Thai player led 11-5. After the interval Saina took 2 points to reduce the gap to 8-11 but Intanon took 2 more points for 13-9 lead.


At 15-11 Intanon challenged a out decision by the line judge and decision went in favor of Intanon. Saina tried hard to come back into the match reaching 15-19 but Intanon over powered her and won the game 21-15 and match 21-9, 21-15. It was a very disappointing performance by Saina  and sure she would like to forget this soon.
