Kidambi Srikanth beats Tommy Sugarato in Dubai Super finals
India’s K Srikanth beats Tommy Sugarato 21-18 21-13 in his second group match of Dubai Super series finals today. It was a convincing win for the Indian player as he dominated the match from the start. He made easy work of his opponent and did not allow Sugarato to come back in the match. It was another good display from the Indian player.
In the first set Srikanth got off to a good start taking a 4-0 lead. After that Sugarato took a slender lead of 5-7. At the interval it was 11-10 in the favour of the Indian. After the interval Srikanth raised his game and took a good of 19-16. Sugarato tried to comeback in the game, but it was not good enough for the Indonesian player. Srikanth took the first game 21-18.
In the second set both the player were fighting for each point till 5-5. After Srikanth took the advantage and played some great smashes. At the interval it was 11-7 in favour of the Indian. In the second game Srikanth played some wonderful smashes which proved too good for the opponent. After the interval there was no stopping of Srikanth. Sugarato had no answers of the smashes from the Indian. Srikanth took the second game 21-13 and with that Indian player won the match in convincing style.
He had earlier won a gruelling three set match yesterday against Japan Kento Momoto. It was a great display by the Indian male player whose recent form has been great. His net shots and smashes was great and played a dominating match. His court coverage was excellent and he made his opponent to make a lot of errors.
By winning this match he is a step closer of reaching the semi-finals of this prestigious tournament and hope that he continue in same form in the upcoming matches. This tournament has been good one for both the Indian players. It would be good that both of them qualify for the semi-finals.
