It was the 30th match of the 2003 ODI World Cup (Group Stage). After winning the toss, India managed to score the first innings total of 250/9 (50 overs).
Later, in the second innings, while the Indian pacers provided a good start, the Indian left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra showed his dominance in that game. The youngster managed to register the bowling figures of 10-2-23-6 – the best bowling figures by an Indian bowler in the Cricket World Cup history. His bowling helped the Indian team to win that match comfortably by 82 runs as England were bundled out for just 168 runs (45.3 overs).
