Now it would be heart-breaking for Bangladesh if Australia defeat England tomorrow and rule out Bangladesh out of the equation from Champions Trophy 2017.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmuduallah first rescued the team and then shared 224 runs for the fifth wicket, highest for any wicket, to keep Bangladesh camp breathing until the last match of Group A stage is played.
Having lost the wicket of Tamim Iqbal on just the second delivery bowled of their innings, Bangladesh’s chances were dented which further were further depleted when three more wickets followed within the first five overs of the game. It was all over for them – as it seemed but the duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah filled in air of their batting lineup to recuperate it and put Bangladesh par the score of New Zealand, which was second biggest upset stroked by Bangladesh, with the last one coming against England in 2015 World Cup when they defeated them to go in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
With this win, Bangladesh kept their hopes alive whereas New Zealand became the first team to be ruled out of the Champions Trophy. The fate of their journey will be written tomorrow when Australia face England.
Till the time being, it was an opportunity for Bangladesh to live the moment. Also, time for their fans to enjoy the win. Here are some best of the tweets to define Bangladesh win –
