The coronavirus outbreak has forced to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to delay the Indian Premier League 2020 to 15th April. Originally it was scheduled to start from 29th March with the match between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Superkings. In normal circumstances, the fans might have witnessed the thrilling game between the two successful teams in IPL history.

However, the pandemic has washed off all the dreams. IPL is a platform which allows youngsters to earn the play in the national side. And this year also many youngsters would have thought to make a statement with their performance in the 13th edition.

But with the future of IPL 2020 under dilemma, due to coronavirus pandemic, and the lockdown, some players might fail to make the entry in the Indian national cricket team this year. They would have less opportunity this year to caught the eyes of selectors. Let’s take a look.

Here are five players whose India debut has been deferred due to the lockdown:

5) Ishan Kishan:

India, Debut, Delayed, Lockdown, IPL

The wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan hails from the MS Dhoni’s home town. His name has been heard many times from the selectors as well as the Indian head coach for his impressive performance in the recent past. He was in selectors’ eyes when MS Dhoni took a long break.

Rishabh Pant’s degrading performance has again brought him in the discussion. He also led the Indian team in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup where the team finished as the runners-up.

The youngster has played 72 List A matches and 76 T20s matches to score 2334 and 1714 runs respectively. In IPL, Mumbai Indians (MI) use him as the pure batsman but not as a wicketkeeper.

Besides, MI uses him as the middle-order batsman while for India A he gets the place as the finisher. His ability to play at any batting order is an advantage for the team. But in the current scenario, it will be hard for him to get the chance in the team.
