Amid Rift Rumours With Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli To Skip Press Conference – Report

Recently, we came across the reports citing that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the vice-captain Rohit Sharma were involved in a war of words, which took the headlines in Indian sports. Once again, a similar report surfaced in the media, as the skipper Virat Kohli wants to skip the press conference ahead of the West Indies tour.

It has become customary of the Indian National Cricket Team skipper to speak to a media gathering ahead of a kickoff to any series. However, Virat Kohli is expected to not attend the pre-departure presser ahead of the West Indies series owing to dressing-room tension.

Virat Kohli to skip press conference:

Team India is scheduled to take off for the United States on July 29 (Monday). Two out of three T20Is have been scheduled in Florida while the remaining limited-overs matches will be played in West Indies. The series will start from August 3 onwards.

There was a lot of anticipation about Kohli’s press conference. Especially, after multiple media reports about a rift between him and Rohit started doing the rounds. It started ever since the Men in Blue returned home after their semi-final exit from World Cup 2019.

Adding fuel to the reports, recently, Rohit has unfollowed the Bollywood actress and Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma on Instagram. Rohit had unfollowed captain Kohli long ago. It was when the rumours of a rift between the duo had initiated.

Team India captain Virat Kohli and Head Coach Ravi Shastri apparently take unilateral decisions. Without taking others into a conference, thus creating an atmosphere of discord, leaving the team divided.

Despite that, recently, team India bowling coach Bharat Arun made it clear. He cited that everything is going well between Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Arun also confirmed that there is no need to worry about their relationship.

The trouble apparently started to make rounds post the loss to England in the World Cup. The bowling unit supposedly felt humiliated post a team meeting after the defeat in the group-stage encounter.
